In fact branding has its origins in ancient Egypt. The ancient Greeks and Romans used symbols to mark their livestock and their slaves. Centuries later Europeans introduced branding in the Americas and then Australia.

Takes many forms

Owners are still registering brands and their position on livestock in so-called ‘brand books’ and brand registration sites.
